Editing

We will use Sony Vegas Pro 11 for all of our editing. We will use it for to cut and edit all of our clips to create our final music video.

We still have a few more shots to film but we will continue to edit so that we don't get behind on time. We have so far uploaded most of the clips that we have onto the timeline and will be ready to begin adding transitions and effects very soon.

Moon Shot

Due to the bad weather conditions, it has been quite difficult to achieve a good shot of the moon so we designed this on Photo Shop as an option to use in the video if we can't get a successful shot of the real moon.

We also have this shot of the moon which has the real texture of the moon so may look more effective when put into the video. We will experiment with both shots to see what works best. We will continue to attempt getting some more successful shots of the moon and may photograph the moon through some trees to make the shot slightly more distorted and therefore increase the element mystery and enhance the eerie effect.

Time Management

We filmed the evening part of the narrative on the 13th November but found, when putting them onto the computer, that some of the clips were of poor quality due to the lighting. We will re shoot these clips on the 16th November at an earlier time so that we can still show that the character is walking through the night but we still have enough light for the filming.

We filmed some more clips of the performance today on the 15th November but we couldn't have access to the college drums so we were limited on the type of shots that we could do. We used the time to get some close up shots of Tom Martin singing and some shots of the guitars being played. The fact that we couldn't have the drums meant that we will have to film the rest of the performance element next week so we are now slightly behind schedule but by next week we will have finished all filming and will be ready to edit.

Photographs from Performance Filming

We began the filming of our performance element on Thursday 15th October.

Here are some of the photographs as we began setting up.

We experimented with lighting and position before we began filming.

We shined a light behind Tom to create the illuminated effect.

We used a light under the drum kit to highlight Tom Bond as we found that he was lost in the shadows under the normal lighting. This light also allows for good effects when doing close up filming of Tom on the drums.

Choreography

We will use spotlighting behind the artist like the technique that has been used here in The Script’s video. This will create a dark effect and make the scene seem eerie and spooky. This will add to the overall feel of the video and the band and fit in with our genre which will appear to our target audience.

In our performance we will use direct mode of address to the audience to involve the target audience. Having close up shots of the band playing instruments and performing all together makes the artists look good which links to Goodwin’s theory.

Drama Studio for Filming Performance

I emailed the college receptionist to book the drama studio and the college drum kit for filming our performance. The drama studio was chosen for performance as it has the right lighting and curtains for backgrounds that we need for our performance which will fit to our genre.

Time Management Update

We have now done four lessons worth of filming. We have filmed our performance part of our video and done most of the day section for our narrative elements. We aim to film the evening part on the 13th November to include the moon and show a change in time of the soldier's journey. We have found that we may need to reshoot some of the performance element as some of the clips have resulted in poor quality.
